Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 1, 2026
The short version: WordMaster doesn't collect your personal data. Your game stats live on your device. We don't run ads. We don't share anything because there's nothing to share.
1. Information We Collect
WordMaster is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the website:
- Game Data (Local Only): Your game history, statistics, and current game state are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
- Server Logs: Like virtually all web servers, ours automatically records standard access log data including IP addresses, browser type, referring URL, and timestamps. This data is used solely for security monitoring and aggregate traffic analysis. It is not linked to individual identities and is deleted periodically.
- Contact Form Submissions: If you choose to contact us via the contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message content you provide solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiry.
2. How We Use Information
We use the limited information we collect only to:
- Keep the website operational and secure
- Respond to messages you send us
- Understand aggregate, anonymous usage patterns to improve the game
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.
3. Cookies & Analytics
WordMaster does not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies. We use Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) solely to understand aggregate, anonymous traffic patterns such as page views and general device types. This data is not linked to individual identities and is governed by Google's privacy policy.
The only browser storage we use for gameplay is localStorage (not cookies) to save your game state and statistics locally on your device. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.
4. Third-Party Services
WordMaster uses Google Fonts to load web fonts (DM Sans, Playfair Display, JetBrains Mono) and Google Analytics for aggregate traffic measurement. When fonts are loaded, your browser makes a request to Google's servers. Google's own privacy policy applies to those requests.
5. Children's Privacy
WordMaster does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The game is suitable for all ages, but we do not direct our services at children and do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable precautions to protect the limited server-side data we hold. Our servers use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
Since we collect virtually no personal data, there is little to exercise rights over. However:
- You can delete your local game data at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage.
- You can request deletion of any contact form data we hold by emailing us.
- Residents of the EU/EEA have rights under GDPR; residents of California have rights under CCPA. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of WordMaster after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
